The Free Information Foundation receives nonprofit status.

The Free Information Foundation received notice today that its Articles of Incorporation were accepted by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of State Corporation Bureau, conferring its legal status as a new domestic nonprofit corporation. This moment marks a milestone in the progress of our mission. We are very pleased to have found a home in the state of PA, and look forward to beginning our agenda here. Our next steps in the coming weeks will be to create an EIN (Employer Identification Number), apply for state sales tax exemption, and to file IRS form 1023 for 501(c)(3) federal tax-exempt status.

New Website

The Free Information Foundation launched its new organization website today:

The site will serve as the organization's central online presence by providing information about the foundation and its mission, highlighting information about all of its current and upcoming projects, and connecting it to contributing developers, sponsors, end users of its products, and members of the general public. The site also features a blog (this one) detailing the latest news and upcoming events from the foundation that can be syndicated by readers via RSS.
